2011 Sculpture Trail “The Journey”
Demonstrations of Heritage Skills used in the building of a Mediaeval church A major new emphasis in 2011 will be to display some of the great skills and crafts used to build a church in Mediaeval times. Some of these skills are still in use today albeit practiced by only a few specialised craftsmen. The Demonstrations along the Trail will provide: - contemporary relevance to the Trail’s theme - information and education on our country’s heritage - opportunities for all ages and abilities to consider their own interest and possible future participation.
The Heritage Skills Demonstrators will include :
Bee keeper Book Illuminator Calligrapher & Quill maker Candlemaker Falconer, Wood carver Flint knapper Heraldic artist Paper maker Labyrinth Leather worker Misericord carver Mobile bronze founder Pargetter Pole lathe wood turner Stained glass maker Silversmith Sky chamber maker Harness Maker Stone letter cutter Tile maker Wheelwright, Weaver Spinner Blacksmith
