OCTOBER 2007 UPDATE The Village survey has been issued to all residents and a report for the Business Committee has been prepared. It is important to have the opinions of as many residents as possible, as these views will be incorporated into the Business Plan, which will form the basis of our Grant applications. The Grant Applications Group are busily researching, so as to furnish the Business Committee with a list of suitable bodies to apply to for grants. These applications will be sent out near the end of this year and into the new year The Lottery application is ongoing and on 9th August four members of the Village Hall Committee took part in a telephone interview that lasted for 1 hour and twenty minutes. Further clarification of our budget for the new hall was requested during the last week of August. The net result is that of the 1600 applications we are still in the melting pot, which now consists of 545 applicants. Further decisions on the successful stage one applicants are expected in December. After considerable planning our first main fund raising event the Auction of Promises took place on Friday 12th October. at 19.30 at Bergh Apton Village Hall. EXCITING FUND RAISING FOR NEW VILLAGE HALL Vision 50 (the new Village Hall project) is in full swing. Evy Sayer is in charge of Fund Raising along with Alison Bertram – who could say No! to these two ladies! The first major event was an Auction of Promises on Friday 12th October. Evy and Alison had been twisting arms for Promises. The result was a very successful evening that raised over £5,000.00. Eighty- five people sat down for an enjoyable evening. They bid for lots, drank some wine and enjoyed a dinner- all for a nominal sum of £5. Congratulations to everyone who supported this important event. In the future we are planning a Treasure Trail, a Silver Mile (save your 5p coins) Christmas Bingo, Buy-a-Brick and many other exciting events.
